Food carts start setting up around 4:30 PM, and by dinner time the entire street is lined with them. They sell all sorts of amazing food - noodles, mean on skewers, traditional Thai desserts, steamed buns, fried chicken... all for incredibly cheap!
Sunset tai chi in the park. I love it when I see this. There's a surprising amount of sushi around, but it doesn't seem like it's refrigerated. Thanks but no thanks! I do not like my raw fish with a side of bacteria.
Food on sticks is everywhere! This stand has a few kinds of sausages, fish balls, and whole squid. Still haven't tried the squid...
I love the color of the monks' robes.
The scooter. A perfect family vehicle...great for grocery shopping... and I'm actually shocked at how many people are wearing helmets in this picture!
Fruit. So much divine fruit. Convenient little bags of watermelon, guava, pineapple, papaya and cantaloupe... for about 30 cents!

Hey Cate!
Well, I have been reading your blog for a looong time, and I think is my first time to comment! :) I am loving all of your posts on Thailand!! My fiance and I are just finishing up our year of teaching in Seoul and are heading to Vietnam and Cambodia for a couple of weeks before going home. We were going to try and squeeze in Thailand, but unfortunately there just won't be enough time, so I'm living vicariously through you! Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for sharing your experiences!
Cate - I have your blog in my google reader, and I seriously am so amazed at what you're doing. And jealous :) I love all of the photos and cultural info! Anyway, I saw your post about the 30DS on my blog, if you just use a stopwatch I can tell you what the circut moves are so you can try them, or you can just incorporate tons of lunges and squats into your daily workout, and that's basically doing the shred!
Your pictures just took me back to my visits overseas and how I miss being there!
What a great little photo journey of your walk home! That sushi sure does look delicious but I agree with staying away from it!
I think I would pick up something for dinner from those stands every night if I walked by!
What a wonderful journey!
You're right, they do love those plastic bags!
Squid on a stick - gotta love it. Actually they took it off the stick and put it in a plastic bag for us. I tried some, it was rubbery and sea-foody... not my favorite.
I LOVE that you got that picture of the motorbikes, no one here ever stops at red lights so I haven't gotten a good shot yet. But it's one of those things you see every day and no one back home would believe it if I told them.
